I Portoni colorati del Passetto di Ancona

Ancona with kids

The idea to spend some days in Ancona was due to a tour that we did in Marches Region. To be honest Ancona in my mind would have been only a stop. But sometimes unexpected things are the ones that give you more excitement and get into your heart.

And Ancona for me was one like these. Visit Ancona means go till the top of San Ciriaco just to take a look at the harbor on the sunset. Then walking down and reach the sea where the big ships are waiting to take off with the lights on to illuminate the night. Ancona in the morning gives you a good morning, go to the “Mole Vanvitelliana” with its boats still asleep, and stop to the market under the arcades right in time for a snack. And then you can visit museums and the Passetto with their incredible doors.

In short, I recommend a stop at Ancona because sometimes the important thing is not the destination, but the steps leading to it and the moments of wonder along the way. Below as usual some tips to visit Ancona with kids.

Useful information for visiting Ancona with kids

Ancona seemed to us be a quiet city and also suitable for children with parks, green spaces and pedestrian areas.

Visit Ancona with kids

You can visit Ancona by walk or taking buses that connect the center with the station. The website for the information is www.conerobus.it. The city visit good walk even if there are some ascents not ideal if you have the stroller.

What to do in Ancona with kids

The museum that we think you are longing to Ancona if you are traveling with children is the “Museo Tattile Omero” (Tactile Museum Omero) a special museum where kids can touch everything.

With children, however it is interesting to also stop at the Cardeto Park or at the Passetto with its caves by the sea. To achieve the latter there is an elevator (which, however, was not running when we were there) or the stairs.

At the end of Viale della Vittoria – on the Monument to the Fallen left – you’ll also find some rides and a small playground for children while another children’s area is located in Piazza Cavour.

Beaches close to Ancona

From Ancona by train or bus you can reach many beautiful beaches. The area named “Il Conero” is very beautiful and there you can find a lot of beaches. One of them is Beach Urbani a famous really very nice beach with lots of restaurants right at the Monte Conero.

In less than half an hour by train from Ancona you can also reach Senigallia with its end so as to be defined long sandy beach “velvet”.
