The Miramare Castle is a full of history monument, not far from Trieste in the North-East part of Italy. White and beautiful it rises majestically on a cliff sourrounded by nature and the Adriatic Sea and this is a fantastic stop on a way to Trieste.
Built by Maximilian of Habsburg in the nineteenth century in order to live together with his wife, Carlotta, the castle is beautifully furnished and is a fantastic place to go with children.

Right in the middle of the park there is the building called “Castelletto” that houses the headquarters of the Marine Reserve of Miramare with a visitor center run by the WWF Association. In this place children are invited to walk barefoot and the staff will give them a tab where they can find the animals and learn more about their life. For children aged four and up, there is the possibility to learn more about the sea and attending to some snorkeling and educational activities conducted by the WWF staff.
