The museums not to miss between Trento and Rovereto

Raise your hand if you think that museums are boring with the children! If you are among them, you might change your mind spending a few days in Trentino between Trento and Rovereto hunting for… Museums!

I can assure you that in these two cities, of Trentino region, we found beautiful and interesting museums for everyone, including our baby!
In fact in our case we did not start with the idea of looking for the museums … The “excuse” to organize a few days off were the Christmas markets in Rovereto along with the nativity scenes – they are among our Christmas’ passions – but then we took the opportunity also to visit some museums in Rovereto and surroundings, and we really enjoyed finding out that they are also suitable for children.

So today I will tell you briefly with a few pictures, I have chosen four (our favorite), two for each city, but there would be others that are well worth visiting!

Rovereto. museums that you cannot miss

The Mart Museum in Rovereto

The first Rovereto Museum is Mart. Who does not know the Mart Museum? A real institution for art lovers… To be honest I was not sure to take my son there, because it gave me the idea of being a museum too serious for such a young child!

Instead I have been disproved just arriving there and finding a play area at the entrance where they organize workshops for children and many events, but where little ones can even stop and draw or play.

About the Mart I does not add anything else because it is simply beautiful starting from the external!  And that says it all!

The Civic Museum of Rovereto

The Civic Museum for us it was a real discovery for our little traveler. Just outside the center of Rovereto, it is a very nice museum, with an extensive collection of minerals, animals and archaeological finds and a small “happy corner” where children can sit and rest for a while.

In the museum there is also a planetarium where events are organized for children, an area with many workshops proposals and even the ability to build your own robot in the Lego Center! During the period of Christmas many workshops for children are then organized with a Christmas theme.

About Rovereto with children I only add that we also really liked the Memorial Bell and the Military Memorial. No museums in a strict sense, but if you go there, they worth the visit. They both can be visited with the children (the great bell certainly raise their curiosity while the Memorial has a park around and a beautiful view of the valley).

Trento: museums that you canno miss

The MUSE

The main Trento Museum for children is MuSe. Perhaps the MUSE does not need any introduction since it is one of excellence in Italy when it comes to children’s museums.
I say only that we came back twice from a distance of about a year, finding new and interesting installations and “testing” the Ooh Maxi area that is suitable for children among 0 and 5 years. Our son loved it (what is trying to dive into the sea-wall is the Patato!).

It is located in Trento just a half hour drive away from Rovereto!

The Museum of Aeronautics “Caproni”

This Caproni Museum is a real tribute to the human dream of flying. The thing that makes it special, however, is that it is thought to let enjoy to all – first and foremost to children – the experience of flying with simulators, 3D experiences, workshops and all you can imagine to make real the dream of a child be a pilot.

Just as the MUSE, this is an interactive museum, where children can experience first and obviously we did not miss any experience, although at one point I did not know if the dad was enjoying more than the Patato! 😉

So far the museums in Rovereto and Trento where to go with the kids in our opinion, but in this area of Trentino there are also beautiful castles, like Castel Beseno and Castel Thun and saw that children love the stories of knights and princesses … How about put in the “list” too? 🙂
